Weekend breaks in Cork don’t have to be in the city, this is a West Cork cottage retreat. Peaceful but offering character accommodation close to Skibbereen, Baltimore, Glandore, Schull and Bantry.

Riverbank Cottage and Riverbank Barn are authentic 150 year old traditional stone buildings that have been restored to offer luxurious self-catering accommodation.

Riverbank Barn is entered at the first floor level via the old stone steps. Duck your head as you enter the open-plan living area. Compact yet cosy, Riverbank Barn is simply a great place to chill out. There is a small kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, fridge and a small table for two. The settee faces the flat screen TV on the stone wall. You’ll also find the Smart TV TV with Netfix and Bluetooth music tower. There is also wi-fi in this cottage. (subject to network accessibility)

But it is downstairs that makes Riverbank Barn one of our most popular cottages for couples.

From the living area, a wrought iron spirial staircase leads to a large bedroom (the staircase is steep so not suitable for people with walking difficulties).

The 2 metre wide bed takes pride of place and in the corner sits the bedroom double jacuzzi. There is an en-suite bathroom with romantic double shower unit.

Outside there is a two tiered deck. On the lower tier is your own private hot-tub overlooking the countryside and with the sound of the river for company. During the summer months you can also enjoy eating al-fresco on the upper wooden deck overlooking the countryside – and in winter sit out here at night, gaze at the stars and listen to the river – fabulous.

In winter we recommend Riverbank Barn for short stays as it is cosy but compact. In summer the additional space provided by the deck makes it a more comfortable unit for longer stays.

Private hot-tub

For reasons of hygiene, we change the water in our hot-tubs from time to time (this is in addition to sanitising with chlorine before each guest arrival). We also carry out maintenance on the jets. This means that very occasionally the tub will not be up to temperature on the first day of arrival but will be ready for use by day two of your stay. This only apply to stays of two days or more.

Pricing

• • All rates are euros and are inclusive of VAT
• • Rates based on minimum 2 night stay based on two sharing.
• • There is a MINIMUM 2-NIGHT STAY in all cottages at weekends and at all times in the treehouses with the following exceptions: i) where bookings fall to leave single nights available these can be booked. ii) where there is a block of 3 available nights, a single night can be booked but not the middle night.
• • There is a minimum 2 night stay in all cottages for all dates in July, August and September and at peak periods such as Valentines, post-Xmas and Easter with the same exceptions as above.
• • For one night stays there is a supplement of €30 to cover the cost of linen and cleaning which is usually spread over 2 nights.
• • Rates may change during public holidays, school holidays and certain prime dates.
